The speed limit on a short portion of North Pleasantview Road in Sanatoga was lowered from 40 to 35 miles per hour last night (Sept. 3, 2008) by the Lower Pottsgrove Township PA Board of Commissioners.
Or, more precisely, says Township Manager Rodney Hawthorne, an existing speed limit was simply extended.
The section consists of 510 feet of North Pleasantview Road from Donna Lane north to the curve at the base of the nearby hill. That curve continues to be the scene each year of several traffic accidents.
Speeds on North Pleasantview Road south of Donna Lane are already limited to 35 mph, Hawthorne says. The board’s action (officially, its unanimous approval of township Ordinance No. 281) continues the same limit further north. The change previously received Pennsylvania Department of Transportation approval.
The Board of Commissioners is the township’s governing body. Sanatoga is located within the township.
