Is there a cello hidden in your closet? A tuba being stored in a tub? Maybe a ukelele gathering dust in a utility shed? If you own musical instruments you’re not playing, they’re needed in the three elementary schools of the Pottsgrove (PA) School District.
The Elementary School Band, comprised of students from Lower Pottsgrove, Ringing Rocks and West Pottsgrove elementary schools, “is in drastic need of musical instruments,” writes teacher Kathy Williams.
Many students can’t afford to rent or buy an instrument, but they – like everyone else – benefit from the gift of music. So Williams issued an appeal on the district website. “If you have an instrument at home that is not being used and would love to donate it to the Pottsgrove Elementary Band program,” she adds, “we will see that it is put to good use.”
Those who can help should contact Williams by e-mail at email@example.com, or leave a message for her at any of the elementary schools.
