Sanatoga homeowners who’d like someone else to pay for fixing up their residences now can enter a competition to win an exterior home improvement package worth $20,000. The launch of a national “$pruce Up Your Home” contest (misuse of the dollar sign is intentional, apparently) was announced Monday (Sept. 15, 2008) by Philadelphia chemicals manufacturer Rohm and Haas and the Arbor Day Foundation.
The contest is Rohm and Haas’ way of celebrating an award it recently received from the American Chemical Society for inventing a “water-based acrylic emulsion technology” that is used in everything from house paints to baby diapers, according to its press release.
To enter the contest, consumers must go online to www.paintquality.com/spruceup, upload a photo of their home, and explain in 200 or fewer words why it deserves a “spruce-up.” That’s it. A panel of judges next February will select a grand prize winner from among all contestants, and eight other first-place winners. Grand prize is an exterior home paint job and $8,000 home improvement gift card; first prize is a new paint exterior without gift card.
Contest entries are accepted until Feb. 1, 2009. Winners will be announced April 24, 2009, on National Arbor Day … so now you know how the Arbor Day Foundation is involved. As might be expected, the foundation will award trees to the winners too.
