Norfolk Southern To Inspect Local Tracks

Officials of Norfolk Southern Corp., which owns railroad tracks that pass east-to-west across Sanatoga and Pottstown PA, will whistle through town within the next 10 days as part of a periodic routine inspection.

A three-man crew for the railway owner and freight carrier was busy yesterday morning (Sept. 28, 2008) cleaning tree limbs, rocks and other debris from the north side of the railroad near Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township‘s Schuylkill River Park on Sanatoga Station Road. An on-site crew supervisor said the “big clean-up” was under way because rail executives were due to ride down the local tracks Oct. 8.

Norfolk Southern representative Rudy Husband today confirmed the scheduled trip by company managers, but added “there’s nothing special about it.” Husband, based in Plymouth Meeting PA, said the upcoming tour was “just a typical inspection trip.”
