Six automobile dealerships within a 15-mile radius of Sanatoga PA are participating in a new program to ensure needy local children have warm coats to wear this winter.
The Philadelphia-based Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation today (Oct. 1, 2008) launches its first-ever “Driving Away the Cold” campaign to donate coats for distribution to youngsters across the Delaware Valley by Operation Warm, a non-profit group, and other greater Philadelphia area social service agencies.
Among the 115 participating dealerships are John Kennedy Ford-Lincoln-Mercury-Mazda and Piazza Honda, both in Pottstown; Welsh Subaru, Limerick; John Kennedy Ford and Kelly Chevrolet, both in Phoenixville; and Keyser & Miller Ford, Collegeville.
Under the program, dealers contribute a new coat with every car they sell during October. However, they will not distribute coats themselves and will not have coats on-site.
The foundation, established in 2003, is the philanthropic arm of the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia. It annually contributes to worthwhile child-related programs and causes throughout the five-county Philadelphia region. It donated 10,000 coats to Operation Warm earlier in the year.
