Taco Bell restaurants said it chose 100 rock bands yesterday (Oct. 9, 2008) to compete in its “Feed The Beat” contest, in which band members win free food and the potential of marketing support for their music.
None of the bands are from Sanatoga. In fact, none are from Pennsylvania (‘Jersey is the closest they get). Most are from what Taco Bell claims are “music hotbeds like Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York and Seattle.” Although Taco Bell operates stores in Pottstown PA and Gilbertsville PA – 2 and 8 miles, respectively, from Sanatoga village center – none of the bands named are likely to eat locally, either.
However, each of the 100 bands are somewhat known to music lovers between the ages of 13 and 21. Expect them to be even more well known soon, because each band gets a dedicated page on a Taco Bell-sponsored website, also called Feed The Beat. Fans can log in there to download music, photos, biographies and tour schedules, and also vote for three bands they think are the best.
Betcha some Sanatoga rockers are among the 36.8 million customers nationwide who patronize Taco Bells every week. They’ll pick a winning band. You’ll see.
