If the choice of costumes worn Sunday (Oct. 26, 2008) by children attending the Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township Halloween Festival at Sanatoga Park is any indication, The Bat is where it’s at.
Kids apparently love Batman. And Batgirl. And Robin. The number of trick-or-treaters parading around the park as Dark Knight-lookalikes was culturally noteworthy.
There were plenty of other Hollywood celebrities too – Darth Vader, Indiana Jones … you name the hero, he or she was there – as well as a to-be-expected assortment of pumpkins, black cats, cowboys, and clowns.
The township has conducted the festival for several years; the most recent have drawn significant crowds, according to township Assistant Manager Alyson Elliott. More than 100 people arrived at the park on South Sanatoga Road within the first 45 minutes of the two-hour event. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the facility, with bright sunshine, moderate temperatures and a slight breeze.
Activities included games, hayrides, a balloon-toy maker, fun crafts, a costume contest and a parade. The Ernie & Neal Rock & Roll Band played too.
