Birdsboro PA resident Leslie Fenstermacher (above at left) and four other nurses employed by The Reading Hospital Medical Group vaccinated several hundred people against influenza (flu) Saturday (Oct. 25, 2008) during a clinic in Boscov’s Department Store, Coventry Mall. The event represented an expansion of what has become the hospital’s annual distribution of free flu shots, according to Scott Johnson, its business development director.

A handful of Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township residents were among those taking advantage of the no-charge protection against winter ills.

“This is our way of giving back to the community that supports us,” Johnson said, noting that the Boscov’s site – the fifth at which the hospital had administered free shots – was added only this year. In addition to the nurses, a staff of six other hospital employees was on hand to handle the paperwork associated with the 600 doses of vaccine available.
