Leaves falling from the trees prompted many Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township residents to grab their rakes and begin the big fall yard cleanup during the past weekend (Nov. 1-2, 2008). Township-provided compostable kraft paper bags were stuffed to the brim and placed along the roadside in almost every neighborhood.
Leaf collection in Lower Pottsgrove is held on the first Monday of every month. Residential waste haulers who operate in in the township have collected leaf waste monthly since January 2007.
Leaves must be appropriately bagged for composting. Bags are available for purchase at the township offices, 2199 Buchert Rd., Sanatoga PA; Sanatoga Thriftway, 2190 E. High St., Sanatoga; and Redners Warehouse Market, 1300 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown PA. Leaves placed in plastic or other bags will not be collected, according to the township website.
