LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – The nation’s “Everyday Heroes” did not go unnoticed Tuesday night (Nov. 11, 2008) by students of Ringing Rocks Elementary School.
Men and women who served in the armed forces are among those a popular song of the same name proclaims as everyday heroes. They received special attention on Veterans Day 2008 from members of the school’s 5th grade chorus and second-year members of its 5th grade band.
Before a crowd of about 125 people, the band and chorus performed the theme song, the anthems of all five branches of the military services, and “The Star-Spangled Banner” to applause, broad smiles, and a movie camera or two. Their cheery and well-rehearsed show preceded a meeting of the Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors, which gathered at Ringing to discuss the potential for improvements to that building and others within the district.
Chorus members who took the stage were Molly Achuff, Katlyn Barr, Kyler Conrad, Libby Cutler, Maddy Endy, AJ Erb, Janine Faust, Samantha Favinger, Emily Fisher, Paige Fisher, Emily Glinecke, Clara Harding-Cartledge, Megan Houston, Faith Jenkins, Nicole Kanach, Erika Lessig, Rachel Levengood, Ashleigh Lewis, Eric Maynard, Aubree McCalicher, Tess McNamara, Taelor Middleton, Cheyenne Ownes, Megan Reigh, Kiersten Rodgers, Amanda Smoyer, William Wallace, and Kayla Yost.
Second-year 5th grade band members performing were Nicole Kanach and Amanda Smoyer, flutes; Emily Glinecke, AJ Erb, Austin Leach, and Eric Maynard, alto saxophones; Jacob Harvey, John Rodgers, and Jake Robinson, trumpets; Molly Achuff, Cheyenne Owens, Tess McNamara, Megan Houston, Sean Orrison, Kyle Leach, Brandon Drozda, Kayla Yost, and Matt Graves, clarinets; and Dalton Davidheiser, drums.
The band and chorus also performed for students at the school, 1401 Kauffman Rd., Pottstown PA, earlier in the day.
