LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Pottsgrove High School seniors who aspire to a career in the fashion industry can enter a new contest that may help bring them a step closer to their goal.
Problem is, they’ve got to hurry. The deadline for submitting an entry to the Passion for Fashion 2009 competition is Friday (Nov. 21, 2008).
Passion for Fashion was created to encourage and reward young fashion talent. Grand prize winners in two categories will be selected to receive full tuition scholarships to study at the Art Institute of Philadelphia.
Entries in the Fashion Design, or Fashion Marketing and Merchandising and Retail Management categories will be accepted from any high school senior scheduled to graduate in 2009. In the Fashion Design category, entry requirements include submission of an original evening wear design. In the Fashion Marketing and Merchandising and Retail Management category, entry requirements include a finished product or plan.
“So many high school students have tremendous talents that could work to their advantage in the fashion industry. This competition is a venue in which seniors can demonstrate their talents in the hopes of winning a tuition scholarship,” said Bruce E. Dempsey, vice president of Academic Affairs for The Art Institutes.
In addition to the scholarship, winning students in each category receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City for Fashion Week in February 2009, and a meet and greet and lunch with the staff of Seventeen Magazine.
