Rite Aid Offers Weight, Fitness Help

Sanatoga Rite Aid.

Sanatoga Rite Aid.

SANATOGA PA – Fitness celebrity Denise Austin, a nationally known medical weight control program, and Rite Aid pharmacies across the country – including the chain’s store at 2217 E. High St. – are teaming up to encourage customers to lose pounds during 2009, the company said Tuesday (Dec. 30, 2008).

To help customers get fit and manage their weight Rite Aid will offer the Rite Weight Plan, a free online weight-loss program that it claims can help participants lose as much as 10 percent of their body weight in 10 weeks. Enrollment is available at Rite Aid’s website.

The program was developed with Lindora, a California-based medical weight control system. Austin’s role is as incentive: Rite Aid customers can enter a contest to spend a three-day, two-night luxury spa getaway at a Virginia resort and work out with her.

Rite Aid’s program includes daily e-mail support intended to help participants stay focused and motivated, a daily action plan to track meals and food intake, food recommendations and menus, and online interactive Web seminars led by Lindora weight loss experts. Also part of the program is the free 16-page Weight Management guide, which is available in all Rite Aid stores and online.
