SANATOGA PA – It would have been pretty to look at if it wasn’t so dangerous.

Freezing rain Wednesday (Jan. 7, 2009) caused slick roads, vehicle crashes, and school delays across the Greater Pottstown area. As temperatures plummeted, a pouring rain solidified into clear, thick, glass-like ice that coated trees, vehicles, patio furniture, and anything else outside.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation cautioned drivers throughout the day to be mindful of the weather and its potential impact on road conditions.

The icy conditions began Tuesday afternoon and continued overnight. The National Weather Service posted winter storm warnings and ice storm warnings from Pennsylvania into Maine, and winter weather advisories were issued for parts of Michigan and Ohio, according to The Associated Press.
