The colorful landscape images of painter James Flynn are the subjects of a free exhibit titled “Conceptualized Panoramas Painting,” open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Phoenix Village Art Center, 207-209 Bridge St., Phoenixville PA. For more information, call 610-983-9430. The exhibit continues through Jan. 31.
It’s the last weekend to take advantage of “Yuletide At Pottsgrove Manor,” a free exhibit that demonstrates how Christmas holidays for colonists in the 18th Century were radically different than those we celebrate now. It was a festive time featuring dancing, music, plenty of good food and drink, as well as time for rejoicing in both the birth of Christ and the new year. Visit the historical manor, 100 W. King St., Pottstown PA, today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
A playful exploration of architectural history, domestic space, miniaturism and nostalgia is found in the “Discovering Dollhouses” exhibit, in its last day at the Chester County Historical Society. The exhibit features examples of European and American dollhouses made between 1850 and 1950, loaned by local collectors. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the society’s headquarters, 225 N. High St., West Chester PA. An admission fee is charged. For more information, call 610-692-4066.
See model freight and passenger car trains rumbling across 700 feet of track, over high trestle bridges, through towns, around mountains and through tunnels along the right of way from Reading to Philadelphia. It’s all part of the free annual model railroad open house hosted by the Schuylkill Valley Model Railroad Club from 1-4 p.m. at its headquarters, 400 S. Main St. (in the rear of the building), Phoenixville PA. The open house is held during the same hours on Sunday, too, and continues through Jan. 25.
