LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – The Schuylkill River Heritage Area will host a one-day workshop March 19 (2009; Thursday) to show municipalities and businesses along the Schuylkill River Trail how they can benefit from its growing popularity. The Trail Towns Conference, as it is being called, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Montgomery County Community College’s Pottstown campus, 101 College Dr.
Some township park areas are expected to be included in the Montgomery County PA portion of the trail once it is fully developed.
Among businesses expected to benefit from the trail are bed and breakfasts, bike shops and historic sites. The conference seeks to bring together business owners, local government representatives, economic development agencies, recreational organizations and county officials to brainstorm on promoting amenities to trail users. Experts who regular work with trail users will be among the participants.
The heritage area is managed by the non-profit Schuylkill River Greenway Association, based in Pottstown.
