POTTSTOWN PA – Prospective college students, high school seniors, parents, and others who may want help in obtaining financial aid for college should consider attending Montgomery County Community College‘s FASFA Completion Day event today (Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009) beginning at 10 a.m. in rooms 247 and 252 of South Hall on the Pottstown campus, 101 College Dr.
All college-bound students, regardless of what schools they plan to attend, can receive free assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is required by colleges, universities and private career schools to qualify for scholarships, grants and loans.
“The financial aid process can be daunting. Our primary goal is to ensure that the first step toward obtaining financial aid is completed accurately. We hope that by offering FAFSA Completion Day, we can help families to accurately fill out the FAFSA and more easily begin this process,” said Cindy Haney, MCCC director of financial aid.
Both students and parents who attend should bring their completed 2008 IRS 1040 tax returns, W-2 forms and other income and benefits information. Students age 24 and older may attend alone; students age 23 and younger should attend with a parent or guardian.
