Program Looks At Domestic Violence

POTTSTOWN PA – Protecting women and the ones they love from domestic abuse will be the topic presented by Dr. Carol Henwood of Pottstown Medical Specialists Inc., a Healthy Woman physician-advisor, during the free March 19 (2009; Thursday) Healthy Woman event sponsored by Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Chesmont Building conference rooms 1 and 2 at 13 Armand Hammer Blvd.

Henwood will discuss types of domestic violence, how it progresses and why women need to talk to their doctors about it. A discussion on personal safety and evasion tactics also will be given by two female members of the Pottstown Police Department. A list of community resources, and advice on what to watch for in domestic violence and how to help, will be supplied.
