KNAUERTOWN PA – Could you find your way through the woods using just a map and a compass? That’s the challenge of a sport called orienteering, which is being introduced Sunday (March 22, 2009) at 10 a.m. in Warwick County Park, 382 County Park Rd.

The arrow always points north.
A white (instructional level) course will be available, as well as a score course (on which contestants try to find as many locations as possible within an hour). Beginners should allow 20 minutes for instructions and 45-60 minutes to walk the white course.
This event will be held rain or shine, and has been approved for Boy, Girl and Cub Scout use in obtaining badges or patches. Course maps must be purchased from the program sponsor, the Delaware Valley Orienteering Association (DVOA). Maps cost $4 for DVOA members, $5 for scouting and youth groups, and $7 for non-members. A single map is sufficient for a family or group of two or more on the leisurely white course.
Registration is requested, and is limited to 50 participants. For more information or to sign up, call the park at 610-469-1916 or visit its website.
