POTTSTOWN PA – Former patients of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center (PMMC), or their family members, are being asked to nominate a hospital nurse whose care impressed them as a potential recipient of PMMC’s 2009 Patient Choice Award.
The award is intended to recognize quality care, comfort and compassion offered by PMMC nurses during the course of their duties, hospital Chief Nursing Officer Kim Jack said Monday (March 23, 2009). It will be presented during National Nurses’ Week, May 6-12 (2009), to one individual chosen from among nominations sent by the public.
National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
- This event has been added to The Post’s May calendar.
Patients “see the little things that matter so much on a very personal level,” Jack said. “That’s why we are asking patients to help us make the choice.”
Nominations will be accepted until April 29 (2009; Wednesday). To nominate a nurse, send the hospital his or her name, and a few paragraphs explaining the nomination, along with the patient’s name, address and phone number. Entries can be submitted by e-mail, fax (610-327-7432), or by mail to Erin Scheetz, Administration, PMMC, 1600 E. High St, Pottstown PA 19464.
