SANATOGA PA – Weekend activities for Sanatogans (and anyone else!), April 10-12, 2009:

Friday, April 10

A Good Friday prayer procession through Pottstown PA will begin at 10:30 a.m. from the courtyard between Zion’s United Church of Christ at Hanover and Chestnut Streets, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Hanover and Walnut Streets.

The second day of a school holiday soccer clinic for children age 7-12 runs from 9 a.m. to Noon at fields 5 and 6 of Limerick Community Park, Swamp Pike and Ziegler Road, Limerick PA. Players will learn different skills through proven teaching methods, taught by UK Elite coaches. Players are urged to bring water and dress for the weather. Registration is required, and up to 25 players will be accommodated. Cost if $55. For information, call the township Parks and Recreation Department at 610-495-6432.

The annual Sanatoga Fire Company Easter sale of flowers, candies and baked goods, which began Wednesday (April 8, 2009), continues from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., or until sold out, at the fire house, 2222 E. High St., Sanatoga PA. The same hours will be held Saturday. A wide variety of brightly colored flowers including mums, tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils are available to decorate home and table, and baked goods and other Easter basket fillers are awaiting hungry holiday revelers. Proceeds benefit the fire company.

Montgomery County PA historic sites – the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, Pennypacker Mills, Peter Wentz Farmstead, and Pottsgrove Manor – all will be closed Friday (April 10, 2009) and Easter Sunday (April 12, 2009).

Club Revive, the under-age-20 adult-supervised dance club will open at 7 p.m. at Academy Hall, 1700 Industrial Highway, Pottstown PA. Tickets cost $10 at the door.

Saturday, April 11

Two free forester hikes, scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., will be held at the Valley Forge National Historical Park, 1400 N. Outer Line Dr., King of Prussia PA. Reservations are required. Birds aren’t the only animals that lay eggs. Children ages 5 and older, accompanied by an adult, can go on hunting for different kinds of eggs, and learn which animals laid them. The free program, called “Egg-Citing Eggs,” is sponsored by the Green Valleys Association and will be held from 2-3 p.m. at the Phoenixville Area Library, 183 Second Ave., Phoenixville PA. Sunday, April 12

The open-air farmer’s market sponsored by the Pottstown Downtown Improvement District Authority is scheduled to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parking lot located at the corner of Charlotte and High Streets. Vendors of home-grown fruits and vegetables, as well as crafters and artisans, are expected to be on hand to sell their wares to the public. Free live entertainment will feature local talent. Kids can even draw on the sidewalk. For more information on the weekly event, call the office of Pottstown Main Street Manager Bill Haley at 610-323-5400.
