SANATOGA PA – If you’re a local fan of American Idol, you’re aware that television show’s judges made history Wednesday (April 15, 2009) by using their one-time power to rescue singer Matt Giraud from elimination, even when public voters decided he should be booted from the competition.
And if you know that, you’ll probably want to know this: the Idol live concert tour is coming to four different Pennsylvania locations this summer.

Concert promoter AEG Live announced Thursday (April 16, 2009) that Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Reading and Wilkes-Barre will be among 50 cities the tour visits between July and September.
Of the four Pennsylvania venues, the Reading gig (Sept. 8, 2009, at the Sovereign Center) will be closest to Sanatoga, just 24 miles away. In distances measured from the village, it’s followed by Philadelphia (Aug. 20, 2009, at Wachovia Center), 37 miles; Wilkes-Barre (Sept. 9, 2009, at Wachovia Arena), 89 miles; and Pittsburgh (Aug. 22, 2009, at Mellon Arena), 289 miles.
Besides Giraud, this season’s American Idol top 10 contestants scheduled to perform on tour are Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre.
Tickets for “American Idols Live!” officially go on sale May 9 (2009; Saturday) at 10 a.m. Prices weren’t mentioned.
