Pottstown Offers First Saturday Fun

Worth a stare or two.

Worth a stare or two.

POTTSTOWN PA – This week’s coming First Saturday events, sponsored by the Pottstown Downtown Improvement District Authority (PDIDA), include a body workout, work in the park, and staring at well-worked bodies.

PDIDA launches the May edition of its weekend entertainment Saturday (May 2, 2009) at 10 a.m. on High Street downtown, from Charlotte Street west to Borough Hall. The merchant-supported organization focuses on bringing fun and festivity to the borough shopping district.

This month features the Pottstown Health Club conducting a free exercise program, beginning at 10 a.m., accompanied by free yoga taught by the Massage Academy, both at Smith Plaza Park. That’s the body workout.

Then a group of volunteers pitches in for a clean-up of Pottstown’s Riverfront Park along College Drive, also at 10 a.m. That’s the work in the park.

And the well-worked bodies? Get your stares in as they line High Street between 5 and 9 p.m., when the Pottstown Classics Car Club conducts its first Nostalgia Night auto show of the year. Look but don’t touch, remember.

Throughout the day there also will be music and live entertainment; a “bike toss” conducted by Preservation Pottstown at the former Slack Shack lot; a workshop at Smith Family Plaza to teach people how to better use their libraries, sponsored by the Pottstown Public Library; and an open house reception for paper show artists, hosted at the Gallery on High.
