Park Teaches Kids Survivor Skills

KNAUERTOWN PA – “Survivor Kids,” a two-hour hands-on program designed to help children ages 8-14 practice nature observation and awareness, and identify animal tracks and signs, will be held May 23 (2009; Saturday) from 2-4 p.m. in Warwick County Park, 191 County Park Rd.

This event has been included on The Post calendar.

Additional topics will include basic outdoor survival rules and protocol, coping with feelings arising from being lost or in a survival situation, building a survival shelter, and maximizing the chances of being found by rescuers. The program, which will be taught by Naturalist Nick Zurga, is limited to 30 participants. An admission fee of $3 per child will be charged.

The Chester County park is located south of Pottstown and 3-1/2 miles west of the intersection of Routes 100 and 23. Participants will gather at the park’s Pavilion 2.
