WORCESTER PA – A summer evening of musik en der scheierhof, or Music in the Barnyard, will be featured June 5 (2009; Friday), beginning at 7 p.m. at the Montgomery County (PA) historic site, the Peter Wentz Farmstead, 2100 Shearer Rd. Girls from Mars, a vocal trio with bass, trumpet, snare drum and guitar accompaniment, will be the night’s performers.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and picnic baskets. A donation of $5 per person is suggested. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Worcester Historical Society’s Farmers’ Union Hall on Valley Forge Road. Guests should check with the Wentz on the day of the program regarding any change of venue.

Girls from Mars presents the singing talents of Wendi Bourne, Lauren Janson, and Annie Patterson, performing the hits of swing era notables such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, and the Andrews sisters. The group has played at large and small music festivals throughout the region during the past 25 years.
The Wentz Farmstead is a restored 18th century Pennsylvania German farm, owned and operated by the Montgomery County and which receives support from the Peter Wentz Farmstead Society. The site is regularly open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Guided tours are offered every 45 minutes.
