POTTSTOWN PA – A huge white tent on the parking lot hill above and just south of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center alternately rang with laughter, then fell eerily silent, Sunday (May 17, 2009) as the hospital’s Healthy Woman program marked its second anniversary. It was all according to Jeannette Samanen’s plan.
Dr. Samanen, a Valley Forge PA-based specialist in stress management and behavioral medicine, was the day’s featured speaker. Much like a conductor directing an orchestra, she guided participants on a journey to discover their inner selves. At times, Samanen urged her audience into silence to envision future successes; at others, she encouraged their cheers for past accomplishments.
Those and other sounds – clinking water glasses, clattering dinner silverware, and plenty of conversation – served as the sonic backdrop for the celebration of Year Two of the monthly series of hospital special events targeted toward women of all ages. Healthy Woman is a membership program, but non-members are welcomed for individual events.
