SANATOGA PA – Flea market vendors of all stripes – most of them local home owners who wanted to earn spare cash by ridding themselves of unwanted items – filled the parking lot Saturday (May 16, 2009) behind the Sanatoga Fire Company, 2222 E. High St., in an event that benefited the Pottstown Area Relay for Life fund-raiser against cancer.

The relay, a 24-hour walk-a-thon that has become a Greater Pottstown tradition, is fast-approaching. It will be held May 30-31 (209; Saturday and Sunday) at the Pottsgrove High School stadium, and  Saturday’s flea market was among several events staged so relay teams could add to their final donation totals.

Also locally, a mini-relay sponsored by the Philadelphia Premium Outlets was conducted Sunday (May 17, 2009) at the outlet center on Lightcap Road in Limerick (PA) Township.

Mikaya, Shane and Bryce Caffrey, the children of Michael and April Caffrey of Lower Pottsgrove, joined the crowd of shoppers in looking over the goods for sale. Mikaya found a shape-shifting toy; Shane modeled a Viking’s cap; and Bryce kept looking over at a row of hot dogs cooking on a nearby grille. “Can we get these?,” was their common plea.

Flea market customes swarmed across the Sanatoga Fire Co. parking lot.
