District Assembles Ringing Rocks Planning Team

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – A team to oversee planning for the proposed renovation and reconstruction of Ringing Rocks Elementary School on Kauffman Road is being assembled by the Pottsgrove School District.

District Board of School Directors’ President Michael Neiffer on Tuesday (Aug. 11, 2009) appointed fellow directors Robert Lindgren, Fred Remelius and Scott Fulmer to serve on the team as board representatives. All agreed. The appointments were made during the first of the board’s two August meetings in the district administrative offices.

District Superintendent Dr. Bradley Landis said the team also would include Ringing Rocks Principal Michelle Bozzini, several administration members, and at least one teacher and parent representative.

Preliminary plans for a revised Ringing were introduced to and generally well received by the public in April (2009). The district began renovation contract negotiations with its architect, Gilbert Associates of Lancaster, in May (2009).

During its June meeting, the board approved a contract with Gilbert that pays the firm 5.5 percent of the project’s construction costs – which could range between $16 million and $18 million – and an additional $30,000 for engineering work. No other plans or drawings for the school’s much-needed update have since been presented, and aren’t expected for some time.

The board has not yet authorized any construction.
