SANATOGA PA – Creation of a master plan for the future use of Snell and Norton parks, located on the northeast side of Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township, is on the agenda for discussion Monday night (Sept. 28, 2009) at 6 p.m. during the September meeting of the township Parks and Recreation Board in the municipal building, 2199 Buchert Rd., Pottstown PA. The public may attend.
This event has been added to The Post calendar.
The board’s meeting is starting a half-hour earlier than usual, so board members can conduct a field tour, according to a legal notice published in The (Pottstown PA) Mercury newspaper.
The township Board of Commissioners gave its blessing just four days ago (Sept. 24, 2009) to spend up to $59,900 to have a plan for the combined parcels of 32 acres drawn up by landscape architects Simone Collins of Berwyn PA, which has helped Lower Pottsgrove with similar projects in the past.
Some of the cost is being paid with a $38,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The township may learn after November if it also won a grant of $15,000 from PECO Energy, for which it applied for the same purpose in August.
Also during the meeting, board members are scheduled to consider:
- A baseball field at Gerald Richards Park on Buchert Road;
- Prizes to be offered, and vendors involved in, the upcoming (Oct. 25, 2009) Halloween-themed celebration the board has now titled as the “Verizon Fall Festival at Sanatoga Park.” Verizon Corp., which in March (2009) signed a franchise agreement with the township to provide digital television and Internet services locally, provided substantial funding for the event;
- An Eagle scout project being proposed by Matt Kendra; and
- Preparations for the parks and recreation portion of the township’s 2010 budget.
A copy of the meeting agenda is available for download from the township website.

Isn’t that locked chain a wonderful invitation to use the grounds of those parklands. Never unlocked and never accesible to the public…..
Why???
