How To Play Dodgeball (YMCA Seahawks Edition)

It all starts with the line-up. Lethal dodgeballs, side-by-side, wait to be claimed.

POTTSTOWN PA – Revenge sold for $5 per person Sunday (Oct. 11, 2009) during the Fall Fitness Festival that officially opened Healthy Families Week at the Pottstown branch of the Freedom Valley YMCA, 724 N. Adams St., Pottstown PA.

Members of the Y’s Seahawks Swim Team conducted a dodgeball fund-raiser to earn money for their upcoming events, and several teams consisting of up to 8 players paid $40 each for the opportunity to whack their friends or others silly in spirited competition. At $5 per player, it seemed to some like a cheap way to work off some steam.

Medals were presented to winners, and prizes were presented to the best-dressed team.

Spectators were welcomed; most who attended tried their best to simply stay out of the way of incoming balls.

Then the race is on! First to the line usually claims a ball, unless they're the fumble-fingered.

GO! First to the line, except for the fumble-fingered, claims a ball.

The fumblers? They gotta run ...

... Fleeing from those better armed (and probably quicker too).

Those lucky enough to have ammunition wait their turn. Strategy's key.

When the timing's right though, throw toward the torso.

The losers' concession: clowning around on the sidelines.
