Social Media Reflects Sorrow And Loss

POTTSTOWN PA – As word spread Tuesday (Nov. 24, 2009) of the death or injury of friends with whom they once studied and joked, teens and others in the Pottsgrove School District and beyond took to social media forums like Twitter and Facebook to express personal emotions and their sympathies for the families involved.

As of 5:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009) more than 1,400 people had declared themselves as members of a Facebook Group page titled “RIP Andrew Case and Mike Cantamaglia,” that mourns the passing of two Pottsgrove High School students who died in a car crash Monday. Four other teens were injured but are recovering. (Find regional news media coverage of the accident here).

The messages reflect an outpouring of grief, and the desire to comfort those affected. A sampling:
