Pottsgrove Color Day Has Its Serious Side

Smiling but nervous Color Day speaker finalists pose for photographers.

Pottsgrove's annual Color Day marks the end of mid-terms.

POTTSTOWN PA – The annual Pottsgrove High School Color Day athletic competitions between classes spur the most excitement in students there, but there’s a serious side to the mid-term break as well.

“Start And Finish Strong,” was the theme of this year’s 54th Color Day, held Thursday (Jan. 29, 2010) at the high school, 1345 Kauffman Rd., Pottstown PA. The emphasis, Principal Christopher Shaffer said, was to keep students focused on maintaining excellence throughout their careers. Its morning program featured Bret Wrigley, owner of Wrigley’s Office Supply in Boyertown PA and a 1977 Pottsgrove graduate, as its keynote speaker.

Emcee Jamal Reddick, Principal Christopher Shaffer, and featured speaker Bret Wrigley await on stage for the ceremonies to start.

Also addressing the topic were six Color Day speaker finalists: Nathan Nodolski, Jill Norris, Dante Bortz, Brittany Bridi, Taylor Bush, Kayla Speedy, Scott Madl, and Elizabeth Lester. Providing music for the event were members of the school Concert Choir.

Pottsgrove's Concert Choir, directed by Cynthia Foust, sang both the National Anthem and Alma Mater.
