SANATOGA PA – Coventry Christian Schools will finally realize a goal that’s been years in the making, when it formally dedicates its events center – a new building behind its secondary school at 699 N. Pleasant View Rd., Pottstown PA – with a ceremony that begins Friday (Feb. 26, 2010) at 6 p.m.
The ceremony itself is actually the centerpiece of the dedication day. It will be surrounded by three sporting events to help celebrate the facility’s grand opening: a basketball game between its middle school girls’ and boys’ teams at 4 p.m.; another game between faculty women and the high school girls’ team at 5 p.m.; and a third game between faculty men and the high school boys’ team at 7 p.m.
The events center is part of Coventry’s strategy to meet the requirements of a growing student body at its Sanatoga campus, where its provides classes for pre-schoolers and grades 5-12. Plans for its construction were approved by Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township officials in 2004, a year after Coventry purchased the former Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School from the Pottsgrove School District.
The project got under way in November (2009), following a five-month fund-raising drive that attracted more than $240,000 from Coventry’s families and alumni, local business partners and others. SMJ Construction Services Inc. of Douglassville PA is the contractor.
Coventry also operates a second campus, for pre-schoolers and grades 1-4, at 962 E. Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown PA.
