Ringing Rocks Relocation Discussion Set For Tonight

POTTSTOWN PA – The plan to install a series of modular classrooms to house students from Ringing Rocks Elementary School over the next two years, during which the building would be renovated and expanded, will be publicly introduced tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010) in a 7:30 meeting of the Pottsgrove School District Board of School Directors at Ringing Rocks, 1401 Kauffman Rd., Pottstown PA.

Directors said they have cleared their agenda of all other business, and intend to focus their energies on the public discussion, if any, concerning their tentative plan to relocate students to temporary facilities at the Pottsgrove Middle School campus, 1351 N. Hanover St., Pottstown.

A great deal of discussion is apparently expected. On its district calendar, Pottsgrove took the unusual step of budgeting 2-1/2 hours – until 10 p.m. – for the board meeting; a typical session usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.

In a Feb. 1 (2010) letter to Ringing Rocks‘ families, district Superintendent Dr. Bradley Landis described the use of modular classrooms as the “most cost effective choice at this time,” compared to proposals to keep students at Ringing while construction occurs around them, or to lease the soon-to-be-vacated St. Pius X High School on North Keim Street, Pottstown.

During the meeting the district’s architects, Gilbert Architects Inc. of Lancaster PA, will provide and update on the project’s scope, design and time-line.
