Green Eggs And Ham On Their Menu

POTTSTOWN PA – They’ll be listening for a Who – maybe a “yoo-hoo,” maybe a “boo-hoo,” maybe even a “who be you?”  – next Tuesday (March 2, 2010) at Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School.

The Doctor and friends.

That’s when the school’s nearly 700 students will collectively observe the 106th birthday of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss, that’s who!). He’s the author, of course, of such memorable children’s books as “The Cat In The Hat,” “Green Eggs And Ham,” and (bet’cha guessed this already) “Horton Hears A Who.”

This event has been added to The Post calendar.

The entire student body will celebrate Read Across America Day, during which Dr. Seuss is honored nationwide, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the school, 1329 Buchert Rd., Pottstown PA.

Very special guests have been invited to share their joy of reading, according to third grade teacher Shari Costanzo, who (there it is again) has coordinated the school’s Read Across America programs for the past 15 years. The Pottsgrove School District‘s home-grown celebrities – members of its winning 2009-2010 high school football team – will do the narrative honors.

District administrators and support staff members will read as well, Costanzo adds.

One wonders, though, if they can “Who” like a halfback do?
