The Posts Join July's "1 For All" Campaign

SANATOGA PA – The Sanatoga Post, The Limerick (PA) Post, The Pottstown Post, and The Main Street Post joined with thousands of other media outlets nationwide Thursday (July 1, 2010) to launch a campaign called 1 For All, intended to promote public awareness of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

  • Watch a video, above, in which retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, NBC News anchorman Brian Williams, Jeopardy television game show host Alex Trebek, musician and actor LL Cool J, PBS news broadcaster Gwen Ifill, actor Martin Sheen, and Congressman John Lewis of Georgia bring the words of the First Amendment to life. Or, see it at 1 For All’s YouTube account.

The First Amendment is a simple yet eloquently written, single-sentence guarantee of freedoms enjoyed by all United States residents:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

For their participation, The Post Publications owned by Career Education Media Ventures of Sanatoga PA will

  • Run a month-long series of public service advertisements daily beginning Friday (July 2);
  • Encourage its readers’ participation in a national 1 For All contest in which anyone can celebrate their freedom in photos, words or videos; and
  • Publish a series of pieces across all four publications during the month that spotlight the First Amendment at work in the communities they cover: Sanatoga, Pottstown, Pottsgrove, Stowe, North Coventry, Amity, Douglass, Douglassville, Gilbertsville, Birdsboro, Monacacy, Upper Pottsgrove, West Pottsgrove, Limerick, Linfield, Royersford, Spring-Ford, Oaks, Collegeville, Trappe, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Schwenksville, and Skippack.

“The First Amendment allows The Posts, and all news outlets across the country, to do what can’t be done easily or readily in other nations,” said Managing Editor Joe Zlomek. “It gives us the freedom to inform, and keep others informed. We’re therefore happy to be a small partner in a much larger and incredibly important campaign.”
