EXTON PA – The winning (5-1) 10-year-olds tournament team of the Pottsgrove Little League (PGLL) baseball program was scheduled to take to the field Friday night (July 9, 2010) against the team from Upper Providence (4-0) in the first of a double-elimination championship series to capture the PA District 27′s Al Patton Memorial U10 trophy.
The game was to start at 6 p.m. at the Exton Little League fields on Ship Road, according to PGLL President Tim Brown.
No score is currently available, but a win Friday by Pottsgrove will result in another game against Upper Providence Saturday morning (July 10) at 11, also in Exton.
Pottsgrove last played Wednesday (July 7) when it beat Lower Perkiomen 12-10 in what Brown described as an exciting win, and one that parents said was “fun to watch.” “Both teams fought hard for the win,” Brown added. It left Pottsgrove Coach Larry Fiorini drenched, though; he got an unexpected celebratory shower while out in right field after the game finished.

Hot dogs and soda; now that's a way to celebrate!
The 10-year-olds have been on a roll since late June. They got off to a slow start, Brown admitted, with an 11-10 loss to Chester Valley on June 25. They haven’t looked back since, however, beating Coventry 15-5 on June 28, Radnor-Wayne 1-0 in nine innings on June 29, Great Valley 21-15 on July 1, Berwyn-Paoli 3-2 on July 2, and Lower Perkiomen.
In addition, Brown noted, PGLL tournament teams overall have fared well this year. The league record as of Friday morning was 13 – 7. For more results, see the league website.
