SANATOGA PA – Lemonade from Limerick made its way Sunday (July 18) to Sanatoga Park, to both refresh concert-goers attending the Lower Pottsgrove summer music series and to recharge a continuing battle against cancers that affect children.
A group of volunteers who work at Exelon Nuclear’s Limerick Generating Station were on hand to distribute free glasses of tall, icy lemonade to anyone who was thirsty, but what they hoped for in return were contributions to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. The charitable organization that sponsors cancer-related research for kids benefited from the LGS fund-raising efforts.

The charity is named for Alexandra Scott, a Philadelphia area cancer victim who – before she died at age 8 in 2004 – regularly sold lemonade from a stand outside her home to collect money to help others like herself. The foundation named for her efforts now distributes millions of dollars in grants to pay for research projects at more than 50 different institutions.
Exelon employees have been backers of the foundation for about five years, according to employee Kim Batdorf. She was among those filling glasses as The Mango Men played in concert in the park, 100 S. Sanatoga Rd., Pottstown PA.
The lemonade stand will return to the park Aug. 1, when the township Parks and Recreation Department and Exelon Nuclear sponsor a performance of rockers Flamin’ Dick and The Hot Rods. The free show beings at 6 p.m.
