HARRISBURG PA – It’s not too late for senior citizens and other qualified property owners or renters to apply for a Pennsylvania rebate, the state senator for Lower Pottsgrove, Limerick and Pottstown PA – John Rafferty – reminded his 44th Senatorial District constituents Monday (Aug. 23, 2010).

The money's waiting to be claimed.
In a periodic newsletter distributed by mail, Rafferty told readers the state Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program deadline had been extended from June 30 (2010) to Dec. 31, “to ensure sufficient time for eligible Pennsylvanians to apply.”
Depending on their income, qualifying homeowners can receive a rebate ranging from $25 to $650. Renters qualify for a maximum rebate of between $500 and $650. Those eligible to apply include:
- State residents age 65 and older;
- Widows and widowers in Pennsylvania who are age 50 and older; and
- State residents with disabilities who are age 18 and older.
Those who received rebates last year should have automatically gotten a new application for the current year by mail, Rafferty said. If not, fear not, he added; forms are available by calling the state Department of Revenue at 888-222-9190 or via download from its website.
