SANATOGA PA – Activities for western Montgomery County residents (and anyone else!) for  Sept. 24-26, 2010:

Friday, Sept. 24

Home-schooled students and their teachers – and there are dozens of such families across Lower Pottstown and Limerick (PA) townships and the borough of Pottstown PA – will be welcomed Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. into Pottsgrove Manor, the Montgomery County historic site, 100 W. King St., Pottstown PA, for what organizers call a fun-filled and educational field trip to explore 18th Century skills, trades, and pastimes. Admission costs $5 per child, and advance registration is suggested. For more information or to register, call 610-326-4014.

The 11th annual Fringe Festival at Ursinus College, which features professional theater companies that have just appeared in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, as well as student and faculty performances, continues Friday and Saturday, primarily in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center on the Main Street, Collegeville PA, campus. Musical performers Felicita Green and Ben Blakesley will play Friday from 7:30-11 p.m. for customers of Island Pizza, 3060 Limekiln Rd., Birdsboro PA.

The thespians of Playcrafters Theater, Store Road, Skippack PA, will present the Robert Harling play “Steel Magnolias” at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday, in addition to a Sunday matinée at 3 p.m. The play depicts the lives of characters Truvy, Shelby, and the rest of the gossipy southern girls in a small-town beauty parlor. Tickets cost $15 each and are available by calling the theater box office at 610-584-4005.

Saturday, Sept. 25

The second annual Dive-In Festival, a day-long fund-raising and educational event to assist the International Association for Handicapped Divers, will b held Saturday (Sept. 25, 2010) from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Academy of Deeper Education, 601 Yoder Rd., Harleysville PA.

The Valley Forge Mothers of Twins and Triplets Club fall children’s clothing sale will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Rd., Oaks PA. The sale includes children’s clothing, toys, baby equipment, and maternity clothes. Refreshments will be available. For more information, call 610-792-1768.

The Phoenixville Farmers Market, located beneath the Gay Street bridge, Phoenixville PA, continues Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through November.  The market can be reached from Taylors Alley.

A free wildflower walk will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, Haldeman Road and Route 73, Schwenksville PA, as part of its September pre-school science class. Guests will meet at the Crusher Road entrance to the Perkiomen Trail. Link Davis, wildflower enthusiast and explorer, leads the walk. Pre-registration is required. The Skippack Farmers Market, located on the south side of Route 73, just east of its intersection with Route 113, Skippack PA, will conduct its last sale  Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Boyertown Farmers Market, located at 100 S. Walnut St., Boyertown PA, continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All markets are rain or shine. The market occupies the parking lot of The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, two blocks south of the intersection of Routes 562 and 73.

TEDx, the off-shoot of an international series of discussions intended to promote new thinking, creativity and inventiveness in an open exchange of ideas, will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Colonial Theater, Phoenixville PA. Eight different speakers, performers, lecturers and hosts are scheduled to make presentations. Ticket cost $20 (an additional $5 lunch is optional).

Sunday, Sept. 26

The seventh annual Carousel of Flavor Restaurant Festival to benefit the Carousel of Pottstown project will be held Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. in front of Borough Hall at Smith Family Plaza and the 100 block of High Street, Pottstown PA. It’s an invitation to experience many of the area’s greatest restaurants and a chance to sample the best food the region has to offer. The event includes a beer garden, wine tasting, live music and crafts. Tickets to purchase food samples will be available on the street at the event.
