Sanatoga Engineering Firm Makes Magazine Top 20 List

Sanatoga Engineering Firm Makes Magazine Top 20 List

Traffic Planning and Design.

SANATOGA PA – Traffic Planning and Design Inc. (TPD), the highway design and engineering firm with headquarters on East High Street in Sanatoga village, has been named by readers of “Roads And Bridges” magazine as one of the nation’s Top 20 companies for road design-and-build work.

TPD’s ranking in the survey, conducted among readers from government agencies, demonstrates satisfaction with its technical proficiency and responsiveness, according to corporate Communications Manager Nikki Milholin.

TPD won high marks, she added, in structure, roadway, traffic signal, and “Americans With Disabilities Act” (ADA) ramp designs; traffic control plans, park-and-ride facilities, street-scape projects, utility clearances, and right-of-way clearances.

Part of the reason, Milholin noted, was the company’s investments in staff training, development, and workplace environment.

TPD recently completed maintenance and protection of traffic plans for the reconstruction of a portion of the Blue Route (I-476), expanding a park-and-ride facility on the William Penn Highway, replacement of a four-span deck bridge on PA Route 44, and ADA curb ramp designs in Luzerne and Lackawanna (PA) counties.

For Accurate Work, Musician Uses Historic ‘Tools’

BIRDSBORO PA – Music historian Robert Mouland, a Plowville PA resident, thinks it’s important to get things right, and by right he means accurate.

Mouland plays historically appropriate music at a variety of events in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and elsewhere, and to do so he brings with him the proper “tools” to ply his trade … mostly instruments that are a hundred or more years old.

So although listeners may have been a bit surprised, Mouland thought little of tuning up an original baroque violin – made during 1760 in London – on Sunday (Oct. 17, 2010) to play a song titled “Miss Jessie Stewart of Garth” during the annual Heritage Days observance at the Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Rd., Birdsboro PA.

In Monocacy, It’s The Hill That’s King

AMITY PA – Walkers. Runners. Hikers. Dogs and their owners. The curious. Nature lovers. And those interested in just some sunshine and fresh air.

All came out in force Sunday (Oct. 17, 2010), and all were welcomed by volunteer greeters, to the more than 400-acre Monocacy Hill Recreation Area on Monocacy Hill Road in Amity (PA) Township, 9 miles northwest of Pottstown. Although the hill is open year-round from dawn to dusk, the Monocacy Hill Conservation Association used Sunday as an “open house” event to introduce itself to visitors.

Association members have worked with the township over the years, President Risa Marmontello said, to help improve and maintain the huge park. Open houses are now common, she noted, but each one attracts a few new guests and, occasionally, new members who also want to help preserve the hill’s woods and its five miles of trails.
