Emerson Electric Buys Generator Control Supplier

Turbine controls

ROYERSFORD PA – Emerson Process Management, a division of Emerson Electric Co. that operates offices in Royersford PA, has purchased a Pittsburgh-based supplier of generator control systems for power plants, the company announced Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2011) in a press release.

The acquisition of Turbine Control Service Associates Inc. allows Emerson to expand its “product portfolio for the global power generation market,” it said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Turbine Control Service Associates helps power plant operators improve generator performance and reliability by replacing aging controls with systems that use newer technology. One of the company’s products currently controls generation of thousands of megawatts at nuclear, fossil and hydroelectric power plants, Emerson said.
