Spadt Advises European Clients During Coming Trip

Jonathan Spadt

VALLEY FORGE PA – Jonathan Spadt, a Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township resident and chief executive officer of the intellectual property law firm RatnerPrestia, is headed for a two-week trip in Europe to drum up business and meet with some of the group’s international clients, the firm’s marketing coordinator, Jeannie McCann, reported Friday (Feb. 25, 2011).

Spadt is scheduled to lead presentations prepared for clients and partners in Germany and Switzerland. His topics include “Avoiding Common Licensing Mistakes” and “Obtaining U.S. Discovery in Non-U.S. Litigations.”

Later during the trip, Spadt will be joined by RatnerPrestia shareholder and attorney Gerard O’Rourke. Both are heavily involved with business abroad, and are part of the firm’s initiative to build business internationally, McCann said.

In addition to being CEO, Spadt is a member of the firm’s Management Committee and chairs its Intellectual Property Strategy and Risk Management group. He also serves as president of the township Board of Commissioners.

  1. Boy Greg says:

Who runs this publication, a relative of Spadt’s? Is this newsworthy? A business trip?

    • Joe Zlomek says:

Greg, you ask a legitimate question and make a valid point. Such an article would never appear in The Times or The Journal. The Post is neither of those, nor does it aspire to be.

First, I operate the publication, and I am no relative of Spadt’s.

Is it newsworthy?; I thought so, particularly because Spadt is president of the township Board of Commissioners and will be out of the country during March board meetings. That may matter to voters whom he represents, as well as in any decisions the board makes during his absence. Moreover, because The Post is a hyper-local publication, Spadt’s trip IS something people who both know him and don’t will chatter about. Its appearance incensed you enough to comment, and that too will get people talking.

Is this news other area publications will run? Well, yes. I’ll bet The (Pottstown PA) Mercury, The (Norristown PA) Times-Herald, and The Philadelphia Business Journal all pick it up as a business news brief, because Spadt is CEO of a large, specialized law firm in their circulation areas.

Thanks for commenting, Greg. I hope I’ve answered you sufficiently. I sincerely appreciate that you’re a reader of The Post.

I’ll leave it to others to decide whether my trip is newsworthy in the local press! But sitting here in Frankfurt on Sunday night, I couldn’t help taking care of some Township work, which includes a review of your publication, Joe. Just for the record, I am only missing one meeting in March. I do everything I can to balance my responsibilities and that includes scheduling this trip to maximize its effectiveness for my firm while minimizing its impact on my Township duties. Rest assured that I am in daily contact with Township staff and other Commissioners whether I am in the states or abroad. All the best,
