Six Pottsgrove Coaches + Five Camps = Busy Summer

POTTSTOWN PA – Six coaches and five sports could add up to a busy summer this year for students athletes in the Pottsgrove School District.

Permission was granted last Tuesday (May 10, 2011) by the district Board of School Directors for six of its varsity sports coaches to operate summer camps using district facilities. In all cases the coaches are volunteering their time, primarily for the betterment of future teams, and will not be compensated, Superintendent Dr. Bradley Landis reported.

Approved were:

  • Football camp, run by Falcons head football coach Rick Pennypacker, from June 20-24 (2011), for students entering grades 4-9. Its cost will be $65 for district residents, and $75 for non-residents;
  • Field hockey camp, run by Falcons head field hockey coach Christine Campbell, from June 20-24, for students entering grades 3-8. Its cost will be $75 per person;
  • Soccer camp, run by Falcon boys head soccer coach Jay Witkowski and girls assistant soccer coach Rich Wood, from June 20-24, for students entering grades 1-8. Its cost will be $75 per person;
  • Basketball camp, run by Falcon girls head basketball coach Mike Brendlinger, from June 27-30, for students entering grades 4-8. Its cost will be $90 per person, of $75 per person for families with two or more participants enrolled; and
  • Wrestling camp, run by Falcons head wrestling coach Jeff Madden, from June 27-July 1, for students entering grades 6-12. The camp is free to all participants.
