YOU WON’T WANT TO FOOL WITH IRENE – As shown on this Google Crisis Response map, Sanatoga village and Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township are well within the swath of potential mayhem that Hurricane Irene may cause this weekend (Aug. 27-28, 2011). The darker blue middle line is what the National Hurricane Center – as of Friday (Aug. 26) at 6 a.m. – officially anticipates will be the storm’s track, following the eastern coast of the United States. The village center, at North Pleasant View Road and East High Street, is only 103 miles from the eye of what, by the time it reaches here, is still expected to be a forceful Category 1 storm. The light blue areas on either side of the track represent what is called the hurricane’s uncertainty zone, the area in which the Hurricane Center reports the track may vary and which is likely to receive the greatest impact from the storm’s winds and rain. All area residents are urged to take appropriate precautions in dealing with this one-in-a-century weather event. For different map views provided by Google, click here or on the map above.
