POTTSTOWN PA — Police in Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township were reported Sunday (Oct. 23, 2011) to still be looking for the driver of a truck that struck an overpass Friday night (Oct. 21) on U.S. Route 422, causing a bulldozer blade it was hauling to fall off and land on the highway. The blade was then struck by an oncoming vehicle; the truck driver was said to have fled the scene.
“Anybody who witnessed this incident is urged to call … township police with information” at 610-326-1508, Sgt. Tim Walters told The (Pottstown PA) Mercury newspaper early Saturday night.
Walters was among officers who responded Friday shortly before 9 p.m. to the eastbound lanes of 422, when an eastbound Ford Escape had hit the bulldozer blade that was still lying in the road. Walters said it appeared the driver of the vehicle transporting the blade fled after it struck the Armand Hammer Boulevard overpass, broke free from the truck, and landed on the highway.
