POTTSTOWN PA – A bigger-than-usual public turn-out is expected by the Pottsgrove Board of School Directors for its scheduled meeting next Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2012), beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event, which was to have been held at the Kauffman Road offices of the Pottsgrove School District and normally draws only a handful of people, has been moved to the spacious auditorium at Pottsgrove High School, the board announced.

That’s because the prime and continued topic of discussion is likely to be Pottsgrove’s controversial redistricting plans.

An initial meeting on a proposal to create a grade-centers model for three buildings, which has the potential to relocate hundreds of elementary school students if adopted, attracted a vocal crowd of about 200 people Jan. 10 to West Pottsgrove Elementary School in Stowe. Next week’s meeting could be bigger still.

District representatives, who have promised the public will be fully heard on the issue, said well in advance it was probable they would change the meeting location to accommodate a large crowd. That’s now official.

A copy of the board meeting agenda was not available from the district as of 6 a.m. today (Thursday, Jan 19). When publicly posted, both board agendas and minutes can be found here on its website.
