Fill Up! Italian Meals Benefit Helped Pottsgrove Marchers

"Will 'ya lookit the size of that salad?"

POTTSTOWN PA – If a marching band travels on its stomach, then the Pottsgrove High School Falcons should have absolutely no trouble reaching Washington DC later this spring.

Dozens of hungry patrons turned out Wednesday (March 7, 2012) at Giovanni’s Restaurant, East Schuylkill Road, Pottstown PA, for a fund-raiser to benefit Pottsgrove marchers, who have been invited to participate April 13 and 14 in the 100th anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in the nation’s capital. A portion of the proceeds from eat-in and take-out meals sold by Giovanni’s between 4 and 8 p.m. were donated to the band.

At many tables, the night seemed filled with tasty food and good conversation

Inside the crowded restaurant was a sea of maroon T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and caps, all worn by band boosters and music lovers. Visitors said they “loved the food” as well as the cause, and several expressed surprise they were seated so quickly, even though most tables appeared to be filled.

There was no estimate Wednesday night on how much money the band had earned.

Pizzas were almost flying out the door as soon as they were sliced
