Township Police Claim Thieves Busy Tuesday Off Keim

SANATOGA PA – Two alleged thefts that were reported to have occurred Tuesday (March 13, 2012) during overnight hours at properties on East Valley Road and Timber Lane in Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township are being investigated by township police, Acting Chief Michel Foltz said. No suspects have yet been identified, he added.

Foltz said his officers were looking into the disappearance of a dark blue 2005 Chevrolet Z-71 Silverado model pick-up truck with gray rocker panels that was reported stolen from a driveway in the 900 block of East Valley Road, just off North Keim Street, sometime between Monday (March 12) at 11 p.m. and Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. The victims’ mailbox was also knocked over, he said.

The truck has a hard tonneau cover on its bed and “various valuables inside,” according to the acting chief.

Police also are investigating the alleged theft, sometime between Monday at 9:30 p.m. and Tuesday at 8 a.m., of a global positioning satellite (GPS) unit and other items including cash and loose change from a Chevrolet Tahoe parked in a driveway in the 1000 block of Timber Lane, also off North Keim and in the area of East Valley.

Police believe the incidents to be related. In addition to the proximity of their locations in what Foltz called the “Keim Street corridor” and the times the thefts were said to have occurred, both bear another commonality, he said: the vehicles were reported to be unlocked.

Foltz reminded township residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and lock them at all times.

Anyone with information on the occurrances, or who witnesses suspicious activity, is asked to call the department at 610-326-1508.
