NORRISTOWN PA – Area residents who are members of political parties and who want to participate in their April 24 (2012; Tuesday) primary elections have only seven more days to register to vote, the Norristown-based Montgomery County Voter Services Department reported.
Next Monday (March 26) is the last day to register to vote before the primaries.
It’s a big election year in Pennsylvania, with the U.S. presidential contest at stake, as well as those for U.S. senator, attorney general, auditor general, state treasurer, representatives in Congress, senators in odd-numbered districts for the state General Assembly, and representatives in the General Assembly.
The county says 7,495 residents within Lower Pottsgrove (PA) Township’s four precincts will be eligible to vote this year, as will 11,860 in Limerick Township (five precincts), and 13,249 in the borough of Pottstown (10 precincts).
The department issued a reminder that to cast ballots in a primary election, voters must be:
- A United States citizen, and a resident of Pennsylvania and their election district, for at least one month before the primary;
- Age 18 before the day of the primary; and
- A registered member of a political party (Republican or Democrat, for example).
Applications to register as a primary voter are available online from the department’s website, here.
Voter registration forms must be mailed to Montgomery County Courthouse, PO Box 311, Norristown, PA 19404-0311, or dropped off in person during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
