POTTSTOWN PA – A North Adams Street, Pottstown, man was arrested Wednesday (May 16, 2012) at 5:25 p.m. by Lower Pottsgrove Township Police on a charge of public intoxication, following an incident investigator Sgt. Robert Greenwood said occurred outside the Wine and Spirits Store in the North End Shopping Center, 1300 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown.
Grenwood reported he was on routine patrol in the shopping center when he saw David A. Astolfi, 68, trip and stumble over a curb while walking in the nearby parking lot. He made contact with Astolfi, and found he had “bloodshot and glassy eyes, his speech was slurred, and there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.” Astolfi was later found to have a blood alcohol level of .131 percent, Greenwood said.
He was transported to the Pottstown Police Department “to be held in a cell until sober,” according to Greenwood, and may be subject to a fine and court costs if found guilty of the charge, he added.
